Our first New Moon of 2026 occurs in tropical Capricorn, alongside a rare solar system alignment involving Earth, Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Pluto. With an added trine from Uranus, this is a powerful setup that can catalyze numerous powerful events, processes, and experiences within both the personal and collective fields.
Also occurring on the brink of Saturn-Neptune’s historically rare alignment on the Aries Point (the first degree of Aries and the equinox axis), there is a lot of tension building here that we can experience as emerging breakthroughs and as a tipping point into a momentous transitional phase.
The Capricorn archetype is undeniably present with this New Moon and the days surrounding it. It is a cardinal earth sign, concerned with bridging the inner and the outward on concrete, pragmatic levels. There can be intense solitude, retreat, and focus with Capricorn, yet also a surge of ambition and motivation to practically implement goals, objectives, and strong desires.
With the New Moon itself, we’re unlikely to see all that’s brewing beneath right now, or at least realize it’s full power and transformative potential, but we can feel it unconsciously. There is more depth to Capricorn than it’s often caricatured, and more potential for the wise implementation of creative vision.
Pay close attention to all that’s beginning to take shape, collectively and personally, all that’s gradually coming to the surface with this alignment. It signifies a much bigger process that will unfold and take shape over many months (and potentially longer). This is a powerful New Moon to put into motion anything we need a lot of momentum behind it, but also a turning point for much that we’ve already done.
