October's New Moon in Libra forms the head of a yod formation involving Saturn-Neptune and Uranus. The combination of quincunxes is commanding--they direct us and compel us toward higher goals. Yods give our activities a sense of mission and purpose, but they also imply some level of sacrifice or inconvenience.
Archetypal Libra is the sign of relationship, involving our willingness to understand others, find common ground, and compromise. It represents putting some of our needs and preferences aside for the sake of union or agreement. The grand cross involving the New Moon amplifies those qualities of Libra that are more difficult for the personal ego.
The New Moon's grand-cross with Pluto, Jupiter, and Chiron can represent a collision with wounds, residual trauma, and various insecurities, all of which we can feel stuck with, inhibiting our ability to connect, reach out, or put ourselves out there. Yet the conflicting elements here can also serve as catalysts for awareness, and thus for healing and breakthrough.
The New Moon ruler, Venus, is in her own sign, so there's a way to find peace, agreement, and allies. This New Moon reminds us about all that we're connected to, and the necessity of interdependency, collaboration, and working together. We can feel a lot of weight and pressure with this lunation, but also gain the needed incentive to change, find help, or make some shift that can break us through to the other side.
