July’s Full Moon in tropical Aquarius forms a powerful alignment between Moon, Sun, Jupiter, and Pluto. This is all happening alongside the historically rare “basket” formation (sextiles between several outer planets). Thus, this Full Moon is a significant culmination of energies and may correlate with some profound breakthroughs and breakdowns on both the personal and collective levels.

The Sun-Jupiter cazimi (exact conjunction) is also happening on the day of this Full Moon. Traditionally, this was perceived as a fortuitous convergence and amplification of Jupiterian wisdom and counsel. In a modern sense, we can also see this as a magnification of Jupiterian expansiveness, opportunism, and luck.

We do, however, have Pluto’s opposition (to Sun-Jupiter) and alignment with the Full Moon itself, representing a shadowy side to this lunation that, via its Full Moon alignment, may take more center stage here, unfortunately. In one sense, this will undeniably “rain on the parade” of the Sun-Jupiter energies and reveal a darker underbelly to something we might otherwise perceive as wholly positive or good for us.

The higher wisdom of Pluto, however, is that the shadow is actually a reservoir of immense creative power, truth, and authenticity. Where we may have been blinded by glamour or a sparkly facade, we see the harsher reality beneath, expanding our awareness and allowing us to adjust our expectations or relationship to it.

Another theme of this Full Moon may be the dark side of fame, fortune, and success —either the inevitable ugliness of greed, narcissism, and political hierarchy, or the aspects of ourselves that resist the good things in life, unconsciously sabotaging opportunities for increased visibility or a well-deserved position or role.

So while there is something that feels good here that is glowing and expanding, there is also an inconvenient intrusion of shadow, a realization of our own internal blocks to happiness, or the inevitable horrors of life that will always make themselves known, sometimes when we would much rather they not.

Lastly, there is also an image here of immense power struggles. There is a strong political nature to this alignment that may show up in world events. It is a fitting theme of the times, as we are in the midst of a major collapse of an old order, despite perhaps things seeming to go on as usual on the surface. There is more crumbling behind the veil. A major transformation is in motion and reaching a fulcrum here.
