April’s New Moon in tropical Aries aligns with the Chiron-Eris conjunction while Mars, the New Moon ruler, finishes its pass through the Saturn-Neptune/Aries Point alignment. Additionally, eight planets (and briefly, the Moon included) are positioned in the fiery cardinal sign.

That’s a lot to unpack, and it’s all very heavy and difficult stuff, both personally and collectively. First, we are in a dramatic sea change from the Pisces stellium of previous months. That was all quite inward and gestating, and potentially confusing and ambiguous territory.

Aries is not at all like Pisces. It’s a sign of action, and with its ruling planet Mars here too, we get the undeniable association with war, violence, and all the emotions which lead to such—anger, frustration, rage, vengefulness, and so on. Personally and collectively, that is likely to be felt and seen in numerous ways.

Concerningly, as I’m sure you are aware, much of the world is descending (or ascending, depending on your perspective) into this volatile terrain through literal war or aggressive pushback against oppression. Interestingly, what is unfolding uncannily reflects Saturn’s classically unfortunate position in Aries (in its fall) and therefore, “the way things are” are no longer and will be changing.

Also, “the powers that be” are not as powerful as they once were, and they’re in serious trouble because a larger, surreptitious force and energy (Neptune) is also seeping through all the holes in the system. So, considering current events both domestically (here in the US) and abroad, this New Moon and the ripples it makes, invite us to buckle up and get ready for a lot to shift and frankly, topple.

What do we do in our personal experience of this? Take action, step up, and make waves in whatever way calls to you or is needed. Mars is aligned with Saturn, so the high road invites a tactical, strategic approach, definitely not blinded by rage or impulse, but guided, directed, and challenged with authority, wisdom, and maturity.

Where have you earned the right to act boldly and bravely to preserve your personal and communal interests? Aries is about taking up space, defending boundaries, and getting a bit dirty in the process. There’s no way to do Aries right without upsetting or threatening someone else’s plan or position.

Lastly, the Chiron-Eris piece adds the wound of division and taking sides. There are situations that, of course, require this, and we can’t always avoid them in this world. Yet, the flip side of this symbol is the mending and healing of certain divisions and the emergence of a common unity, which can allow for a far more successful uprising. Look for where there may be an unexpected (or overlooked) shared interest to achieve your end goal.
